Solaro Shield Mulit-Layered Reflective Insulation used as a Radiant Barrier

Solaro Shield Multi-Layered Reflective Insulation is also a radiant barrier. it is usually installed in the attics of homes primarily to reduce summer heat gain and reduce cooling costs. The barriers consist of a highly reflective material that reflects radiant heat rather than absorbing it. Unlike most radiant barriers, Solaro Shield Multi-Layered Reflective Insulation also reduces hat conducting like traditional thermal insulation materials.

Solaro Shield Multi-Layered Reflective Insulation can be installed in new and existing construction. When the sun heats a roof, it’s primarily the sun’s radiant energy that makes the roof hot. Much of this heat travels by conducting through the roofing materials to the attic side of the roof. The hot roofing material then radiates its gained heat energy onto the cooler attic surfaces, including the air ducts and attic floor. Solaro Shield reduces the radiant heat transfer from the underside of the roof to the outer surfaces in the attic.

Solaro Shield is specialized insulation that reduces attic temperatures by up to 30 degrees in the summer. It has the beneficial properties of both regular attic insulation and reflective radiant barrier material to further stabilize the temperature of your home and also protects your attic from the damaging effects of heat on its structure.

Solaro Shield Multi-Layered Reflective Insulation reflects the heat of the sun back out of your home through the roof, thus reducing the temperature of your attic. Its application is simple, attaching to the bottom of the rafters and in warmer climates, it reflects and reduces the radiant energy of the sun by 97%. In the winter months, Solaro Shield Insulation pushes the warm air from your furnace back down into your home and reflects the cold air back out through the roof.

The Solaro Shield Multi-Layered Reflective Insulation works best as a radiant barrier when it is perpendicular to the radiant energy striking it. The greater the temperature difference between the sides of the Solaro Shield, the greater the benefits a radiant barrier can offer. Also, the reduced heat gain may even allow for a smaller air conditioning system.

By having the Solaro Shield Multi-Layered Reflective Insulation work both as a radiant barrier and insulating your attic, it can reduce the temperature of your attic by an initial 30 degrees with this barrier attached to your attics ceiling. Then, you further reduce the temperature with an additional insulation barrier on the floor of your attic. Now, your home went from 120 degrees to 90 degrees, to 70 degrees. A much more manageable temperature. This “double-duty” system works both in the summer and in the winter, stabilizing the temperature in your attic and transferring that stabilization into your home.
